Foreign Attorneys

All applications must be completed by March 1.

Foreign Attorneys and Foreign Educated Applicants are required to begin in the Fall semester only. Graduates of foreign law schools seeking a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an American law school are invited to apply to the Law Center. For Foreign Attorneys the maximum number of credits that will transfer over is one full year. Therefore, Foreign Attorneys must enroll at the Law Center for at least four semesters (2 years).

Foreign Attorney applicants are required to submit the following:

  • Application – Do not submit more than one application for the JD program for a specific semester. Applicants are responsible to pay for each application submitted.
  • $50 Non-Refundable Application Fee - Please mail a check or money order made payable to Nova Southeastern University, please include the applicants full name on the check. You could also call the Admissions office and pay by credit card over the phone (we accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express).
  • Personal Statement – Briefly describe any distinctive cultural point of view or life, socioeconomic, educations or personal experiences you would bring to the NSU Law Center. This statement will be used by the Law Center in evaluating your application.
  • Resume –
    • List all scholastic or academic honors you have received, including scholarships, fellowships, prizes, honor societies, etc.
    • List three extracurricular or community activities that have been important to you. Briefly describe each activity and your contribution to that activity.
    • List all employment experience that is relevant to your admissions to the Law Center.
  • Signature Page – If an electronic application was submitted a signature page is also required.
  • LSAT Score(s) – ALL applicants to the law center are required to take the LSAT exam.
  • “Course-by-Course” Evaluation of Foreign Credentials – you have three choices for this. Please see below for more information.
  • TOEFL Score(s) – Required for all applicants that are applying to the NSU Law Center whose native language is not English. The minimum score required is 100 (internet based), 250 (computer based) or 600 (paper based).
Foreign Credential Evaluation and Translation

You have two options to have your foreign credentials evaluated. You MUST utilize one of the two evaluation companies listed below. Please be aware that when you register for the LSAT, you need to register for LSAT only and NOT for the LSDAS/JD CAS, unless you also have transcripts from a US based school. If you register for the LSDAS/JD CAS, we will NOT receive your foreign credential evaluation as we are not a JD CAS school with LSAC this year.

In the event that you have foreign transcripts as well as US based transcripts, then you will need to register for the LSDAS and supply LSAC with all of your US based transcripts, as well as submit to us your foreign credential evaluation from one of companies listed below
