Carli Pierson is a Juris Doctor candidate for May of 2012 at the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University. Carli spent her first year of college in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the Universidad de Belgrano, where she studied Latin American studies and Spanish. In 2006, she received her Bachelor of Arts from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois with a major in Islamic World Studies and a minor in French.
In the summer of 2010, Carli worked as an intern for Senior Judge John. L. Kane at the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, in Denver. Carli currently works as a teaching and research assistant for NSU Law Associate Dean of International Programs and Professor of Law, Catherine Arcabascio.
Committed to public service work, for the past two years Carli has been raising money and awareness for Fonkoze, a microfinance institution Haiti, and the Grameen Foundation, an international microfinance institution. Carli is Vice-President and Co-Founder of “Beyond the Game” a partnership with the Miami-Dolphins and NSU Law that aims to teach high-school student athletes about the law, their rights and empower youth to make educated decisions in everyday life. As a first year law student, Carli volunteered at a Haitian Temporary Protected Status Clinic in Miami, as well as a Broward Civil Rights Restoration Clinic with Representative Perry Thurston.
