Second Year Evening Courses
Fall Semester
The following courses are Mandatory:
(Elements of Legal Analysis is mandatory if student meets GPA requirements)
- Constitutional Law I
Course examining the Constitution of the United States, its interpretation, and its application. Topics include developments relating to judicial review of legislative action, problems of federalism, limits on the power of government regulation, and the protection of civil and political rights.
- Criminal Law
Course examining basic principles of American criminal law: definition of crimes, criminal responsibility, defenses, proof, and punishment. Electives may also be taken - see below for additional graduation requirements and recommended bar courses (check prerequisites before registering)
Winter Semester
You must select at least 2 from the following courses: Criminal Procedure, Family Law, and Wills and Trusts

- Criminal Procedure
Course introducing the basic Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment constitutional doctrines that govern the investigative and pre-trial stages of the criminal justice system.
- Family Law
Course covering the law regarding the family relationship - including the rights and responsibilities of parents, spouses, grandparents, and children - and the creation and dissolution of the family. Topics include adoption, spouse and child abuse, alimony, property distribution, child support, and child custody.
- Wills and Trusts
Course examining the law of property transmission through intestate and testate distribution and express and implied trusts. Topics include: execution, alteration, and revocation of wills; rights of immediate family members; contest of wills; creation and elements of express trusts, both private and charitable; rights of beneficiaries; termination of trusts and the duties and liabilities of the trustee; and implied trusts, both resulting and constructive.

- Writing Requirement (satisfied through any seminar, Law Review/Journal paper. Must earn a C+ or better on the seminar paper; can be completed in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year)
