Write-On Competition

Summer Candidacy Schedule

A.  Competition Dates
  • The competition will begin on Friday, May 12th, at 9 a.m.. The competition will end on Friday, May 19th at 12 p.m..  
  • Invitations will be extended as soon as possible, after the Editors of both publications have reviewed all submissions.  You will be notified only by those publications that extend you an invitation, and you may receive up to two invitations.  You must notify the publication of your decision to become a candidate by the deadline provided in the invitation(s).  You may only accept membership on either Nova Law Review or ILSA Journal.
B. Eligibility to Compete
  • Write-on competition participants must have a minimum cumulative 2.50 GPA following the winter 2006 grade posting. 
  • Participants must have received an anonymous number.  Anonymous numbers will be distributed, via e-mail, from April 26th to May 11th. A student-wide e-mail will be sent prior to April 26th informing you how to receive your anonymous number.  
C.  Write-on Packet
  • The write-on packet will contain all the instructions and materials you need to participate in the competition.   The packet will provide the subject matter of the paper, the permitted source materials, and instructions on how to complete your paper.  
  • The packet will be available to download beginning 9am on Friday, May 12th.  As stated above, you must have acquired an anonymous number before downloading the packet.  Information about how to download the packet will be sent via e-mail prior to the competition.
D. Turning in Your Paper
  • Four copies of your paper must be handed in between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. EST on Friday, May 19, 2006 in the Nova Law School Atrium, on the upstairs bridge connecting the Law Library and Faculty areas. Two copies will be submitted to Nova Law Review and two copies will be submitted to ILSA Journal.  The time will be kept as per www.time.gov.

  • If a Nova Law Review candidate is unable to submit his or her paper in person due to an unavoidable conflict, a copy must be e-mailed to Jason Weissbein, weissbeinj@nsu.law.nova.edu, before 12 p.m. EST on May 19, 2006.  You must notify Jason before the competition begins in order to submit your paper via e-mail. 
  • All ILSA Journal candidates must submit their papers in person as well as via e-mail to Tanya Garcia, garciat@nsu.law.nova.edu, before 12 p.m. EST on May 19, 2006.  If an ILSA Journal candidate is unable to submit his or her paper in person due to an unavoidable conflict, and so, can only submit his or her paper via e-mail, the candidate must notify Tanya Garcia before the competition begins.
