Summer Institute
Students are required to begin their M.S. Emp.L. experience with, and return annually to, a short residential institute for the Study of Employment Law. Such visits to NSU’s campus in Ft. Lauderdale provide students with opportunities to meet their classmates face to face and to interact personally with faculty and employment law professionals.
At the first on campus Institute, students will be exposed to the American Legal System’s structure and history, the basics of the court system, and legal research and reasoning techniques.
At the second Institute, students will undergo further instruction in legal research, attend courses and presentations on specialized topics building on their year of coursework, and confer with faculty regarding their Individual Research Projects ideas.
At the final Institute, students orally present the results of their Individual Research Projects, attend additional courses and presentations, and participate in a graduation ceremony.
