Scott Atherton is a part-time Adjunct Professor at Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, where he teaches various areas of employment law in connection with the NSU Masters in Employment Law Program. On a full-time basis, Professor Atherton is a shareholder with the Atherton Law Group where he concentrates his practice in the areas of employment law and complex commercial litigation. His employment law experience includes defending discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wage claims, supervising internal investigations, and creating personnel policies that seek to minimize his clients' employment-litigation exposure. Professor Atherton also prosecutes and defends a wide range of contract and business tort actions, including those arising from non-compete agreements.

Professor Atherton graduated summa cum laude from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, in 2004. During law school, he earned high grade awards in his Employment Discrimination, Contracts, Civil Procedure, Evidence, Constitutional Law, and Wills, Trusts & Estates classes and received the Fredrick J. Damski Memorial Book Award for Outstanding Achievement in Constitutional Law.  He also received the Michael L. Richmond Award for Academic Excellence and the Dean's Merit Scholarship.

Before establishing his own law firm, Professor Atherton served the Honorable Judge Robert M. Gross as a judicial clerk at the Fourth District Court of Appeal and was a member of the national employment law practice at Akerman LLP. Professor Atherton regularly speaks on employment law issues, and has written several employment law articles.  E.g., The Florida Bar Journal, Contributing Author, "Employment Law for Law Firms: Do the Shoemaker's Children Need New Shoes,” Volume 83, No. 9, October 2009 and Volume 83, No. 7, July/August 2009.
