Institutional Overview - University of Barcelona
University of Barcelona Faculty of Law (UB), founded in 1450, is part of the oldest and largest university in Barcelona. It consistently appears in several rankings of the top universities in the world.
With the advent of this unique program, a select number of students are afforded the opportunity to study the common law system of the United States, as well as the civil law system of Spain. As lawyers, dual-degree graduates will have an opportunity to practice transactional law in the European Union, and to practice law in the United States and Spain.
NSU Law students attend classes in Spanish at the UB for one semester during their second year to study civil law. Following graduation from NSU Law, students return to Spain for a full year of study in Spanish in Barcelona. Students that successfully complete all phases of the program will obtain both the Juris Doctor (JD) degree in the United States and the Licenciatura en Derecho (Spanish Law degree) in Spain.
Courses completed at either university count toward their home school degree. In addition, optional internships at Spanish law firms will enhance the student's classroom lectures with practical experience. Spanish fluency is required.
