Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of its Law Center.

The Shepard Broad Law Center is set apart from other law schools by its innovative teaching techniques and 21st century curriculum. The Shepard Broad Law Center continues to be remarkably successful. NSU’s Lawyering Skills and Values program (LSV), is ranked in the top tier of the April 2007 peer reviewed U.S. News and World Report’s, law school survey specialization section. LSV integrates practice, professionalism, and the latest technology with legal theory. Our unique Critical Skills Program (CSP) prepares students to transition from lay person to law student to practicing lawyer by focusing on effective legal study techniques, analytical and written bar exam skills, and the work of a real lawyer in the real world. NSU is strongly committed to promoting and utilizing technology. RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the Law School with responsibility to provide innovative vision and leadership in order to maintain and advance the stature of the Law Center. The Dean is responsible for working effectively with a variety of constituencies within the Law Center and externally including alumni, the practicing Bar, the judiciary, university organizations and committees, and other legal organizations and academic associations. Within the Law Center, the Dean is responsible for sustaining and building an academic environment that supports educational excellence, practical skills and scholarly efforts. The Dean is responsible for financial and personnel management as well as Law Center fundraising and development efforts. Together with the faculty, the Dean is responsible for faculty appointments, educational programs and curriculum, and development of a diverse faculty and student body. Similarly, the Dean is responsible for staff appointments and the development of a diverse staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: Essential qualifications are a Juris Doctorate and a distinguished record of professional and intellectual leadership.

APPOINTMENT: The position of Dean of the Law Center is a senior administrative appointment at the University. The Dean will meet the Law Center criteria for tenured full professorship. Anticipated starting date for the position is Summer 2008.
