The Auction
The Public Interest Law Society (PILS) at Shepard Broad Law Center holds its annual auction each spring. The next auction will take place in February of 2009.
The purpose of this auction is to raise money to provide the necessary funds to facilitate legal services to those individuals who desperately need it. Due to budget constraints, most organizations that assist the indigent and poor are understaffed and unable to compensate legal interns. The funds raised at this auction will enable law students to aid local organizations in providing quality
legal services to those who would otherwise be unable to afford it.
ALL funds raised at the auction are utilized in the form of fellowship grants to students at NSU Law School. These grants are paid to students who work in non-paid public interest legal positions. 100% of the auction proceeds will be put back into our local community and help benefit both numerous public interest programs and our local community as a whole.
Join us in February 2009 for a night of food, fun, and entertainment. The spectacular evening will include both a silent and a live auction. Auction items are donated by law firms, local businesses, faculty, students, and alumni, and additional generous individuals.
How Can I Help?
PILS is asking area businesses, organizations, celebrities, and people like you to donate goods and services, in order to make this auction as successful as possible. Each item auctioned off will be identified by its donor as well as by its characteristics in an auction booklet distributed to all in attendance. In addition, we will include a copy of your business card within the booklet as free
advertisement as way of thanking your company. Your donation, as a charitable gift, is tax deductible and we will gladly provide you with receipts describing the nature of your gift along with our tax ID number to be used by you for this purpose, upon request.
